Late Arrivals

Guests arriving after 6pm will find their check in details in the Late Arrivals Box located next to the office door.


A small shop is on site with basic grocery items, snacks, drinks and ice creams. Please note, the nearest supermarket is 40 minutes drive from Whakapapa village.

Free Wi-Fi

Free wi-fi is offered to all guests. Wifi service is the best currently available but can have signal issues due to surrounding trees and our geographical location.

After Hours Help
Guests requiring after hours assistance should phone 027 8923 898.

If it is an emergency, in the first instance, dial 111 and ask for Ambulance, Police or Fire.

On Site Shuttle
ROAM Shuttles operate from the Holiday Park office, offering train and bus transfers, shuttles to ski field and the Tongariro Alpine Crossing.

Bedding Hire

Duvets are available for hire at $6 per set.

For the comfort of guests who are non-smokers, please do not smoke indoors. Cigarette bins should be used and are located around all buildings.

Pets are not permitted in the Tongariro National Park. Fines apply. The only exceptions are Guide Dogs and Mountain Rescue Dogs for which a permit must be carried.

Open Fires are not permitted in the Tongariro National Park  – Large fines may apply.

Shared Facilities Buldiing

Kitchen/Dining Room

  • 16 ceramic cooktops, 2 large bench top ovens, 2 microwaves, 2 commercial toasters, wall-mounted hot water dispenser, 1 x fridge and 1 x fridge/freezer, wall-mounted water heaters.
  • Cooking and eating utensils available for loan from reception.
  • The Kitchen/Dining Room is closed between 10.00 am-12.00 pm daily for cleaning.

The Laundry Room has 2 washers, 2 dryers and a large washtub. Each machine costs $4 per use and takes $1 & $2 coins. Laundry powder sachets are available from the shop.

Drying Room
The Drying Room is at the rear of the laundry room and has a heater/fan and clotheslines.

Pay Phone
A public pay phone is available for use in the Amenities Block and accepts both credit and phone cards.

Recycling bins are located in the Amenities Block and outside the Lodge. We ask all guests to recycle where possible.


Gas barbeques are located outside the Amenities Building and have night lights available.

Alarms & Emergency Evacuation

Volcanic Eruption Warning is a spoken warning giving evacuation instructions via loudspeakers on site. Staff will assist all guests to evacuate in the unlikely event of a Lahar. The safe assembly point is at the Tongariro Chateau.

Fire Brigade Alarm is an ‘Air raid’ style siren and should not be confused with the lahar-type warning above.
